The benefits of exercise during pregnancy

Regular exercise during pregnancy can help you cope with the physical changes your body is going through. It can build stamina for the challenges ahead and help with your mental health.

For most pregnant women, at least 30 minutes of moderate intensity exercise is recommended on a daily basis, but don’t push yourself and recognise you may need to slow down as your pregnancy progresses.

The benefits of exercising during pregnancy include:

  • Helping you to cope with your labour

  • Preventing excess weight gain

  • Promoting muscle tone, strength and endurance

  • Puts you in a strong position to get back in shape after giving birth

  • Improves your mood

  • Boosts your energy levels
