The Winter Olympics are back for 2022, held in Beijing in China from 4 to 20 February!
There’s a jam-packed programme of 109 events over 15 disciplines in seven different sports by lots of very impressive athletes.
But despite our famously grey weather, opportunities for sports such as bobsleigh, curling and skiing are few and far between. However, there is a venue in Whitley Bay where you can get your fix of winter sport!
Whitley Bay Ice Rink is a great community venue where you can get active with your friends and family.
They provide sessions for juniors and adults in sports such as ice hockey and ice skating. The ice rink is also the home of Whitley Warriors ice hockey team where you can go along to show your support!
Being part of a team and playing sport is a great way to get children prepared for life! The Healthy4Life team encourage anyone to take up a sport they are interested in as being physically active can have physical, mental and social benefits.
